Design Your Own Decks at BoardPusher.com

by brian on Sep.16, 2009, under Gear, Review, Skateboarding

I just came across this pretty sweet site, BoardPusher.com

BoardPusher.com allows you to design your own skateboard decks with 1 or more 4-color images and text. They provide a dozen deck sizes to choose from ranging from your underfed freestyle board to a pool board more my speed and even a pintail longboard. After that you upload your graphics, arrange them and purchase.

What’s cool is you can also sell your designs at a markup like Threadless and Cafe Press offer.

My only real complaint is that the instructions for uploading are pretty much non-existant. I figured out pretty quickly that you need to use a .jpg or .gif (no .eps, .tiff, or .psd allowed… I haven’t attempted a .png) and you’ve got to be pushing at least 300 dpi. This is not a great surprise for me as I’ve spent some time doing digital design, but could be frustrating for someone not as knowledgeable.

The boards are your typical Canadian maple 7-ply so weight and durability should not be an issue at all. And they’ve also got completes available upon request.

I also don’t see any greasy agreements giving ownership of images and designs to BoardPusher though they are understandably careful about not allowing the use of their site for copyright infringement.

I’m excited to see how this pushes the already pretty great world of deck designs. I wonder if this is where Ken Marshall had his Zombie vs. Nomz deck printed?
